{ Ideas that transform space }
With the recent earthquake in Haiti, TLA went through all kinds of emotions as its IDEA (Florida based office) Director Jean-François Gervais was on its way to the Montana hotel that collapsed in the disaster. In a taxi cab 4 kilometers away from the hotel as the earthquake struck, the road suddenly got distorted and the vehicle was forced to stop. Having no other choice than escaping the scene, he was then returned to the Canadian embassy where he was rescued. IDEA was in Haiti to work on a potential project in this country.
At the same moment, engineers in partnership with IDEA were already at the Montana Hotel and got buried under the falling structure. To this day, only one of the two engineers working with the SMI Group were rescued.
